I always use "Skippy Peanut Butter" in this recipe because that’s what my Aunt used. Also, you can use creamy peanut butter instead of the chunky but I like the extra crunch of the nuts.

Ingredients For joanne's peanut butter cookies

  • 1 c
    crisco
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    dark brown sugar -- packed
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    skippy chunky peanut butter
  • 3 c
    sifted flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt

How To Make joanne's peanut butter cookies

    Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees;

    Mix together shortening, sugars and eggs;

    Add vanilla extract;

    Stir in peanut butter;

    Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture;

    Roll into little balls, place on cookie sheet; press each cookie in center with fork; (I don't cross-hatch -- one pressing is my "signature look" for these cookies)

    Bake for 10 minutes; cool on pan for 2 minutes; remove to wire rack to continue cooling.
