How To Make holiday sugar cookies
-
1Cream shortening and sugar.
-
2Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well.
-
3Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture.
-
4Divide dough in half. Shape into logs or 2 balls. Wrap in wax paper and chill at least 1 hour. Then remove from refrigerator and cut into about 3 pieces and stack each piece on top of the other and press together until it is pliable (knead it) and forms a ball. Do the same for the other half.
-
5Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness on lightly floured surface. Cut with any shaped cookie cutter. Re-work leftover dough scraps, roll and cut out until all dough is used.
-
6Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Repeat with remaining dough.
-
7Frost with Decorator Frosting.
-
8DECORATOR FROSTING: Cream butter and sugar, add milk and vanilla or almond extract. (I usually use almond) Stir in food coloring.
-
9Spread on cooled cookies. Decorate as desired.
