This recipe comes from one of our local cook books. It's labor intensive (mixing all the ingredients by hand) but well worth the effort. The cookies are absolutely delicious. You can't have just one!

How To Make faux mrs. field's cookies

  • 1
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla.
  • 2
In another large bowl, mix together flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Add to butter mixture slowly until well incorporated. Add chocolate chips and nuts

Make golf ball size cookie balls. Space 2 inches apart on UNGREASED cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 6-10 minutes(for soft, chewy cookies). Cookies will be soft but will harden slightly as it cools. You may have to test the first batch; if cookies are still too soft after it has cooled, then increase baking time by a minute or two until you have the texture you desire. Caution: The longer you bake it, it will get even harder as it cools. The most I've baked it was 12 minutes for a crispier cookie although I prefer the soft chewy kind. **Footnote**: If adding additional ingredients, you can reduce the choc chips to 1 and half bags, chopped nuts to 2 cups and add 1 cup of golden raisins and/or dried cranberries or dates if preferred. **You can also reduce this recipe in half because it makes a LOT of cookies. I always give away to family and friends so I use the full recipe.
