A buttery cookie with chopped walnuts that my friend Gen gave me many, many, years ago. It is a family favorite, and easy to make anytime you want a little something homemade to go with a cup of coffee, or tea, or a glass of cold milk. Photos are my own.

Ingredients For crescent cookies

  • 1/2 lb
    butter, softened
  • 5 Tbsp
    sugar
  • water
  • 2 Tbsp
    vanilla
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    walnuts, chopped fine
  • powdered sugar

How To Make crescent cookies

  • 1
    Pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.

    Mix butter and sugar together in medium bowl. To that, add vanilla and 1 tblsp. water.

    In another bowl, sift flour, and salt together. Now add flour mixture to creamed mixture. If the dough is too dry, add more water, 1 tsp. at a time until it is just mixed (not wet). Add nuts and mix well.

    Take a small amount of dough, and make a 1/2 moon shape cookie. Bake 20 minutes. Cool completely and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
