I've made these cookies for so many years, probably close to 50. These, along with Potato Chip Cookies, are my family's favorite. In fact, I think these are the absolute favorite! I found it in my Betty Crocker's Cooky Book, the very best book for cookies as far as I'm concerned.

Ingredients For chocolate crinkles

  • 1/2 c
    vegetable oil
  • 4
    squares unsweetened chocolate (4 oz. total), melted
  • 2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 4
    eggs
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    sifted confectioners' sugar

How To Make chocolate crinkles

    Mix oil, chocolate, and granulated sugar. Blend in one egg at a time until well mixed. Add vanilla.

    Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Stir flour, baking powder, and salt into oil mixture. Chill several hours or overnight. (I usually chill overnight so that I can bake early the next day.)

    Heat oven to 350. Drop teaspoonfuls of dough into confectioners' sugar. Roll the dough in sugar, and shape into balls. Place about 2" apart on greased baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Do not overbake! Makes about 6 dozen yummy cookies.
