Since I tried these, I won't buy them any more. I was cleaning Bonnie's house 20 yrs ago, she is a hair dresser, works from home, she had me help make cookies for the holidays in her house. usually you make these in a pretty ceramic stone cookie mold. they are authenic.

Ingredients For buttery true scotch shortbread cookies

  • 1 lb
    butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 c
    sugar, granulated
  • 4 c
    all purpose flour

How To Make buttery true scotch shortbread cookies

    HEAT oven 250.
  • 2
    BEAT butter and sugar together. ADD 1 cup at a time of flour until completely mixed.

    PRESS into cookie molds to less than 1/2 inch thick. (if you don't have molds you could use cut out designs or 9 X 13 pan and pre cut 2 inch squares so it is easy to break apart.)
  • 4
    BAKE at 250 for 1 hour and 20 minutes. TEST after 1 hour for doneness by breaking a small piece off should be firm and crunchy.
