Can't remember where this recipe originated, but I do know that my family has been making them for years especially around the holidays.

Ingredients For aunt cassie's date balls

  • 2-8 oz
    packages pitted dates
  • 8 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 4 Tbsp
    water
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    rice crispies

How To Make aunt cassie's date balls

    Mix together in a 12" saucepan dates, butter, brown sugar and water. Cook over medium-high heat for 10-12 minutes or until thickens to a paste.

    Remove from heat and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix in 2 cups Rice Crispies.

    Allow mixture to cool to touch and then roll into small balls. Roll balls in shredded coconut or powdered sugar.

    Makes about 48 balls.
