Made these for a co-workers birthday and was a big hit. Very easy to make and big on flavor. Makes 4 dozen but can cut into bigger bars. Got this recipe from a recent Taste of Home Cake Mix book.

Ingredients For german chocolate bars

  • 18-1/4 oz
    boxed german chocolate cake mix
  • 2/3 c
    cold butter, cubed
  • 1 c
    semisweet chocolat chips
  • 15 oz
    can coconut-pecan frosting
  • 1/4 c
    milk

How To Make german chocolate bars

    Place cake mix in large bowl; cut in butter until crumbly. Press 2-1/2 cup into a greased 13x9 pan. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes

    Immediately sprinkle with chocolate chips. Drop frosting by tablespoonfuls over the chips.

    Stir milk into the remaining crumb mixture; drop by teaspoonfuls over top. Bake 25-30 minutes longer. Cool on wire rack. Refrigerate 4 hours before cutting
