pecan brittle

Found this recipe in the local newspaper many years ago. It's really good and easy to make. I like it better than peanut brittle because I find it easier on the teeth.

Ingredients For pecan brittle

  • 1 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    dark syrup
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 3 c
    pecan halves
  • 1 tsp
    (level) baking soda

How To Make pecan brittle

  • 1
    Mix sugar, syrup, butter and vinegar together in an iron frying pan. Allow it to come to a boil then add in the pecan halves. Stir & cook for 10 minutes.

    Remove from heat and add the 1 level tsp of baking soda. Stir & pour into two well greased large platters.

    Let cool and then break into pieces.
