The only reason this is marked medium is because it takes awhile and strong hands to mix it together well. This recipe was given to me from Kim Benefield who now lives in Dublin, Ohio. There is only a couple of ingredients and they are absolutely wonderful. I made these for Valentine's Day at church and used red candy coating. My disclaimer-- I am in no way responsible for any addiction that is formed by the consumption of this recipe. All responsibility falls solely on the consumer!! =0)

How To Make oreo balls

  • 1
Finely crush entire bag of oreos using a ziploc bag and a rolling pin or pan bottom.
  • 2
Once oreos are well crushed, cut room temperature cream cheese into chunks and add to the oreos. Zip the bag up. Using your hands on the outside of the bag, thoroughly combine the oreos and cream cheese. Chill in refrigerator an hour or in the freezer about 20 minutes.
  • 3
After chilling, form into balls using 2 spoons. Store in refrigerator till ready to dip.
  • 4
Melt candy coating according to directions on the bag. Dip balls into coating and roll into optional sprinkles or coatings. Place on waxed paper to set.
  • 5
Keep refrigerated until ready to serve. These freeze well too so you can make these a week or two in advance and let them thaw in the refrigerator a few hours before serving.

You can experiment with these. Use the peanut butter oreos with the peanut butter flavored candy melts then roll in chopped Reese's Pieces or roll balls around frozen mini Reese's cups. Use the mint oreos with the mint flavored coating. Use whatever color of candy melts coincides with the season or holiday you are making these on. Use the orange coating for halloween or thanksgiving, the white for christmas, the red for valentine's day. Or use other colors to match baby shower or wedding colors. These are great for any event or gathering!!!!

I tried to make these different shapes by using candy molds, but used the wrong ones. I think these would work fine using the flexible silicone molds instead the hard plastic ones I tried to use. I couldn't get them out!! lol
