This recipe has been in my family for years. I can remember my mom making it when we younger. She would double the recipe as there were 7 of us to feed. I always keep these ingredients on hand. One never knows when unexpected guests might show up and this is quick and easy. I like it best when still warm with a big dollop of whippped cream.

Ingredients For tutti-frutti cake

  • 16 oz
    canned fruit cocktail,drained
  • 1
    beaten egg
  • 1 c
    white sugar
  • 1 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 pinch
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/3 c
    chopped pecans or nut of choice

How To Make tutti-frutti cake

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl beat egg,then add fruit cocktail. In medium sized bowl mix sugar,flour,baking soda and salt. Add egg and fruit cocktail mixture to dry mixture. Stir well,the batter will be very thick. Pour batter into greased 8x8 pan. Top batter with brown sugar and nuts. Bake for approx. 35 minutes,depending on your oven. Top with whipped cream and ENJOY!
