Ingredients For molasses cake bars

  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/2 c
    light molasses
  • 1 1/2 c
    sifted all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    instant coffee powder
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1/2 c
    water

How To Make molasses cake bars

  • 1
    Cream shortening and sugar; add egg; beat well. Mix in molasses and water.

    Sift together remaining ingredients. Stir into creamed mixture.

    Pour into a greased 13x9x2 inch baking dish. Bake at 350 F for 25 minutes.

    While warm, frost with Confectioners Icing. Cool; cut into 24 squares.
