I received this recipe at my bridal shower and have been making it often for the past 23 years! It is quick and easy to make since you don't use a mixer. The frosting is fudgy and delicious too.

Ingredients For crazy cake

  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1/3 c
    cocoa, unsweetened
  • 3/4 c
    canola oil
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp
    white vinegar
  • CHOCOLATE CHIP FROSTING
  • 1/2 c
    butter, cold
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips

How To Make crazy cake

    Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Make wells and add oil, vinegar and vanilla. Pour 2 cups water over all. Mix with fork -- do not beat. Pour into ungreased 9 x 13 baking pan. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.

    For Frosting: Bring first three ingredients to a rolling boil. Removed from heat and add 1 cup chocolate chips. Pour over cooled cake.
