This has been passed down in my family from my great grandmother not sure if it goes back further but her parents were from scotland, maybe thats the origin.

Ingredients For coffee cookies

  • 3/4 c
    oleo (crisco/shortening)
  • 2 c
    brown sugar
  • 2
    egg yolks
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    cloves
  • 1/2 tsp
    allspice, ground
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 c
    cold coffee
  • 3 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    raisins (optional)

How To Make coffee cookies

  • 1
    combine all ingredents, till well mixed.

    butter and flour a pan 13x9 for cake like or a jelly roll pan for thinner bar/cookie like.

    pour in batter in pan bake for about 35 minutes at 350 degrees

    let cool top with the following powder sugar icing

    1 cup powdered sugar 3 tablespoons butter 1 teaspoon vanilla 6-8 tablespoons water or milk combine all add just enough water/milk till the thickness you want
