Ingredients For slow-cooker blueberry, 8-grain hot cereal

  • 4 c
    fat-free milk, blended w/ 3 cups of water
  • 2 c
    8-grain hot cereal blend, like bob's red mill.
  • 2 c
    blueberries, i used wymans frozen wild blueberries
  • 1 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1 tsp
    salt, optional
  • 1/2 c
    walnut pieces
  • 1/2 c
    honey
  • 8
    thin slices of unsalted butter, about 2 tbsp

How To Make slow-cooker blueberry, 8-grain hot cereal

    Coat slow-cooker w/ cooking spray. Combine milk & water w/ cereal in slow-cooker. Stir in 1/2 cup of the berries. Add the ginger and 3/4 tsp salt. Cover, cook on low for 9 hrs.

    In the morning, Toast walnuts in a small skillet, over medium heat for 5 mins, shaking pan. Stir in remaining 1-1/2 cups berries, remaining salt and the honey into cereal mix.

    Spoon 1/2 of the cereal into bowls. Top each bowl w/ a thin slice of butter and some of the walnuts. Serve warm. Toasty!!
