I combined recipes from two friends to come up with this rich version. It is a special treat for Christmas morning or breakfast for overnight guests.

Ingredients For overnight stuffed french toast casserole

  • 1 c
    butter
  • 2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 c
    light corn syrup
  • 1
    country french bread loaf
  • 2
    8-oz. pkgs. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 6
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    half and half
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt

How To Make overnight stuffed french toast casserole

    Grease bottom of 9x13 pan.

    Cook butter, 2 cups brown sugar, and corn syrup over medium heat until mixture is well blended and bubbly. Pour half of sauce into bottom of pan.

    Cut bread into 1" slices and arrange in pan over sauce.

    Mix cream cheese, 1/3 cup brown sugar, and cinnamon until well blended. Dollop between and on top of bread slices.

    Mix together eggs, half and half, vanilla, and salt. Pour over bread.

    Pour remaining sauce over all.

    Cover and refrigerate overnight.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes, uncovered, on baking sheet (for any possible boil over). Enjoy!
