This recipe came from a dear friend's mom many, many years ago. I made it for the first time when I was just 13 years old and have made it every Thanksgiving and Christmas since then. However, feel free to enjoy it anytime of the year. :)

Ingredients For streusel-topped banana bread

  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 c
    ripe bananas, mushed
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 c
    butter, melted

How To Make streusel-topped banana bread

    Mix the first six ingredients and set aside.

    Beat bananas, eggs, sugar and butter until smooth. Gradually beat in flour mixture.

    Divide batter into three greased and floured 5 3/4 x 3 1/4 disposable pans.

    For streusel: 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed 1/4 cup butter, softened 1/2 tsp. each nutmeg and cinnamon In a small bowl, mix all together until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter.

    Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until a knife comes out clean from the center. If streusel starts to burn, cover pans loosely with foil.
