This recipe was on a lined 3 x 5 card. The newspaper on it has turned brown and the tape is old and brown. It comes off easily. It is one of the recipes my sister brought with her when she came for my wedding in February.

Ingredients For orange corn flake bread

  • PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.
  • 2 1/2 c
    sifted flour
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 3/4 tsp
    soda
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped orange peel
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 2
    eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 c
    melted shortening or oil
  • 1 c
    corn flake crumbs

How To Make orange corn flake bread

    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and soda into bowl. Stir in orange peel. Add buttermilk, eggs, and shortening. Stir just until dry ingredients are moistened. Fold in corn flake crumbs. Turn into a well greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.

    Bake for 1 hour or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes in pan, then turn out onto wire rack and cool completely. For easier slicing, wrap bread in foil and refrigerate overnight.
