I have finally perfected making pie crust. It took me quite a while. I wanted it to flaky and to have a butter taste. You can make this in the food processer or by hand, just don't handle it too much or it will become tough.

Ingredients For flaky and buttery pie crust

  • 2 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    crisco shortening, chilled
  • 1/2 c
    unsalted butted, chilled
  • 6-8 Tbsp
    ice water

How To Make flaky and buttery pie crust

    In a glass bowl or your food processer, add your flour, salt, sugar, shortened(divided), butter(cut into inch slices) Cut in with fork or pastry blender until mixture resembles small peas. Add water a tablespoon at at time until dough starts to form a ball. Divide in half, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour before using.
