Ingredients For tavern bread

  • 3 c
    self rising flour
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    beer, at room temperature (not light beer)
  • 1/4 lb
    butter, melted

How To Make tavern bread

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.

    Mix flour and sugar. Add beer and mix well.
  • 3
    Spoon into loaf pan. Bake for 45 minutes.

    Remove from oven and pour melted butter over the loaf. Return to oven and bake 15 more.

    NOTE: This can be frozen and reheated before serving.
