Ingredients For country biscuits

    egg
  • 2/3 c
    milk
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    crisco shortening

How To Make country biscuits

    Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Place the egg in a glass measuring cup. Add enough milk to measure 2/3 C and mix well. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a bowl and mix well.

    Cut the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the egg mixture and stir until moistened. Place on a floured work surface and knead gently until the dough is smooth. Do not over handle the dough.

    Roll the dough ½ inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter. Place on a baking sheet.

    Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown.
