These drop biscuits are a great alternative to the Pillsbury Can. Feel free to add more cheese to make these biscuits more cheesy!

Ingredients For cornmeal drop biscuits

  • 1 1/3 c
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    cornmeal
  • 2 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground mustard (optional)
  • 1/2 c
    shortening or butter
  • 1/2 c
    shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 c
    milk

How To Make cornmeal drop biscuits

    In a bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt and mustard; cut in shortening until crumbly.

    Stir in cheese and milk until just moistened.

    Drop by 1/4 cupfuls 2 inches apart onto a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 26-28 minutes or until golden brown.
