My mom used to fix these for special occasion breakfasts. If you want a quick version, substitute canned cinnamon rolls for the Bisquick version, pour on the sauce and bake according to cinnamon rolls directions. Not as good, but faster.

Ingredients For butter rolls

  • 2 1/4 c
    bisquick
  • 3 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 2/3 c
    milk
  • soft margerine
  • cinnamon sugar mixture
  • SAUCE:
  • 3 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2-3 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar

How To Make butter rolls

  • 1
Combine Bisquick, sugar and milk to form dough stiff enough to pat out on floured surface. Pat out into rectangle.
  • 2
    Spread generously with softened margerine.
  • 3
Sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar mixture (I use 1 part cinnamon to 2 parts sugar, but it can be more cinnamony if preferred).
  • 4
Roll up longwise and cut into 8 rolls. Place cut side down in pan sprayed with nonstick spray (butter flavored is best).
  • 5
For sauce mix milk, vanilla, flour and cinnamon sugar mixture in a bowl, then pour over rolls.
  • 6
Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes until medium brown on top.
  • 7
If canned cinnamon rolls are used instead of Bisquick rolls, use icing provided over the top of the rolls.
