I like to make peanut brittle and other nut recipes and this one seems to disappear quickly when set out on the buffet table.

Ingredients For sweet and spicey nuts

  • 1 lb
    mixed nuts {about 4 cups}
  • 1/3 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    granulated sugar
  • 1/8 tsp
    paprika
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    kosher salt
  • 1 lg
    egg white

How To Make sweet and spicey nuts

    Heat oven to 350F..spread nuts on a rimmed cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Reduce temperate to 325F.remove nuts from oven.

    In a small bowl the sugar cinnamon, nutmeg, paprika and salt, mix together.

    In a larger bowl, beat the egg white with 1 tablespoon of water until frothy..add the nuts to the egg white mixture and toss to coat then toss with sugar and spice mixture. Line the pan with parchment paper and spread the nuts in a single layer, stir occasionally until coating is set about 15 to 20 minutes. Let the nuts cool on the baking sheet and separate them with a fork as they cool.

    Pour the nuts in a container and keep in a cool place. these nuts make nice gifts to add to a Christmas cookie and food basket to take to a friend or family member.
