My boyfriend loves The Irish Rover restaurant in Louisville. These fritters are always his go-to. While these aren't as good as the Rover's, these seem to satisfy the cravings.

Ingredients For cordon bleu fritters

  • 1 c
    bisquick mix
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 2 1/2 c
    shredded swiss cheese
  • 1 c
    finely diced ham (from a salad bar at a supermarket)
  • salt & pepper
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2
    green onions, optional, for garnish
  • 1/2 c
    your favorite swiss cheese sauce

How To Make cordon bleu fritters

    In a small bowl, combine Bisquick mix, egg, and milk. Whisk until combined. Season with salt and pepper. Fold in Swiss cheese and ham.

    In an electric skillet, heat 1-1/2 in. of oil to 375°. Drop batter by rounded tablespoonfuls, a few at a time, into hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 1 minute on each side. Drain on paper towels. Garnish with sliced green onions, if desired. Serve warm with warm cheese sauce, if desired.
