This is a recipe that my husband found under American food on About.com website. It says that it is the real recipe for the wings from Anchor Bar in Buffalo New York, but I noticed many of the reviewers stated it wasn't, so who knows. I just know that I love the wings and am now posting it here for my personal stash. These are not very hot, so if you are someone that likes more heat then me, feel free to up the amounts of the of cayenne pepper and Tabasco sauce. We have even made them up through the frying part, cooled them and then froze them for a later time.

How To Make authentic anchor bar buffalo chicken wings

  • 1
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. If necessary, cut whole wings into two pieces. In a bowl toss the wings with the oil, and salt. Place into a large plastic shopping bag, and add the flour. Shake to coat evenly. Remove wings from the bag, shaking off excess flour, and spread out evenly on oiled foil-lined baking pan(s). Do not crowd. Bake for about 20 minutes, turn the wings over, and cook another 20 minutes, or until the wings are cooked through and browned. These can also be deep fried for 12-15 minutes at 375 degrees.
  • 2
While the wings are baking (or frying), mix all the ingredients for the sauce in a pan, and over low heat bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, and then turn off.
  • 3
After the wings are cooked, transfer to a large mixing bowl. Pour the sauce over the hot wings and toss with a spoon or spatula to completely coat. These are always served with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing on the side. I prefer to have mine with carrots and ranch dressing.
