When I lived in another state and I was still working, a customer use to bring me bags of pecans he had picked up. I have a pretty nice nut cracker too. Wish I had access to more free pecans..ha

Last year after Christmas I got 8 2-pound bags for $2 each. I have spent a lot of time cracking and shelling them. My ex MIL gave me a really good nut cracker, so I was able to get a lot of in-tact halves. I separated them from the pieces as I shelled them.

I love it! And they look so festive too! I've been able to get pecans pretty reasonable at a couple of our local thrift shops. $8 for a quart bag...already cracked and shells removed. And they are fresh.
