Contest Winning Layers of Love Torte Combines Sweetness and Sentiment

Grand Prize Winner Lorie Roach

Ever wonder what gratitude looks like? Well, check out this happy mug! I've been blessed in so many ways over the years. Most recently I had to step back and take a moment to soak in all the amazing desserts the Kitchen Crew and I got to prepare as part of the Decadent Desserts Contest. So much love was served up from cooks all across the country, but in the end there can be only one winner.... and wouldn't you know it, the Grand Prize goes to Layers of Love Torte from Lorie Roach of Buckatunna, MS!

"This decadent dessert is made of three of my all time favorite spreads: peanut butter, Nutella, and Biscoff," says Lorie. "It is easy to make, yet elegant enough to entertain with."

What makes this such a great recipe? Well, love for starters! A food blogger and photographer, Lorie originally created this recipe as an offering to her sister who was going through a time of real transition.

"She was making a big change - going from career woman to stay-at-home mom - and I wanted to send her layers of love."

And this torte is, indeed, jam-packed with delicious TLC. Each layer has a distinct flavor, but they combine atop a crunchy cookie crust to create an overall richness that is simply to-die-for.

New to Biscoff spread? So were we! Turns out, it's an absolutely scrumptious cookie butter made from crushed Biscoff cookies. The result is a slightly caramel flavor that's unlike any other we've tried.

"I learned about Biscoff spread from another blogger," says Lorie. "People started talking about it and I thought, 'Oh gosh, I’ve got to try that!' And even in my tiny town I found it, right next to the peanut butter and Nutella at my grocery store."

Lorie's wonderful dessert has won her a trip to visit with me and Kitchen Crew at Just A Pinch HQ in Nashville, TN, a $1,000 shopping spree at the Viking Kitchen Store and VIP status at her very own Blue Ribbon showcase event where we will prepare her winning recipe for an audience of lucky 'Pinchers!
