There are times in life when we get blown back on our heels at just how very blessed we are. One of those moments came recently while sitting over dinner with Flour Power contest winner Melissa Sperka.
With a million dollar smile and an effervescent personality, Melissa is the latest Just A Pinch member to take the reins as star of her very own Just A Pinch Blue Ribbon Showcase event. The showcase – part of her Grand Prize package which also included a trip for two to Nashville and a $1,000 shopping spree at the Viking Kitchen Store – was held in front of an enthusiastic, capacity crowd.
All in attendance were treated to Melissa’s easy conversation and humor as she demonstrated the preparation of her prize-winning Caramel, Chocolate and Almond Gooey Butter Cake recipe. Questions and laughs were frequent as the crowd watched and munched on a menu of Blue Ribbon favorites that included:

One of the most memorable highlights of the afternoon – at least for this sappy member of the Kitchen Crew – was when it was revealed that Melissa had discovered her long lost twin sister through Just A Pinch… namely, the day’s emcee and previous contest winner Sherri Logan Williams! They appear to have everything in common except actual DNA, and it was a joy to see the dynamic duo in action. You would think they have been friends for years… Talk about double trouble!
A big hello and thank you to all of the wonderful members who came out to celebrate Melissa and share in some good old-fashioned food and fellowship. Bringing folks together over a plate of home-cookin’ is what we enjoy more than anything and its your bright spirits that make it all worthwhile.
