Delicious Christmas Breakfast Ideas
"Quiche is a great way to serve something elegant that costs very little and is easy to prepare," shares Deb Lund (Rhinelander, WI).
When testing Deb's Italian Christmas Quiche, I was a little worried the Italian seasoning was going to be overpowering. It's not a spice I typically put into a quiche and I'm so glad I was wrong. This is yummy! It's simple to throw together - ideal for Christmas morning. Plus, the red pepperoni and green asparagus make the slices of quiche very festive.
Casseroles are a great go-to breakfast. Tonna Canfield's (Ashland, KY) Breakfast Casserole is quick, easy, creamy, cheesy and filled with delicious smokey bacon. Using frozen hashbrowns cuts down on the prep time dramatically.
"It makes an excellent brunch served with fresh fruit and croissants," thinks Tonna. If you have leftovers this casserole would make a great snack if you're looking for something late night.
If a decadent breakfast is on the menu, then try Geoffry Le Cher's (Talladega, AL) Doughnut and Bacon Eggnog Bread Pudding (remember, calories don't count on Christmas!).
"Tis the season to go all out, so how about starting the festive holiday season with this brunch treat that is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face," says Geoffry.
Make this the night before and pop it in the oven on Christmas and you have one simple, decadent and tasty breakfast. Sweet and delicate doughnuts make a great base for this bread pudding. The eggnog infused sweet pudding is the perfect compliment to the savory cream cheese/pecan topping. The center is warm, gooey and oh so good!
"When our kids were little, they would love playing with our backyard neighbor kids," Brad Heintz (Seabrook, TX) explains. "So on Christmas Day, after the busy-ness of the season and the frenzy of opening gifts, we would go through the backyard fence gate in our pajamas and share a casual breakfast." Brad goes on to say, "We would bring our favorites and some experiments and this experiment has turned out to be a favorite."
When warm and sliced into, baked Brie just oozes out onto the plate and is perfect for dipping crackers or fruit. Brad's Christmas Breakfast Brie Pastry is sweet and creamy. Adding fresh raspberry and cran-raisins inside the flaky puff pastry is delicious. The pecans give a bit of a crunch to every bite.
Family Favorites' Holiday Harvest Cranberry Orange Pecan Spread screams holiday and is perfect if you want something light. The sweet citrus combination of the orange and tart cranberries is always yummy. Mixed with cream cheese and crunchy pecans, this a winner.
This would be great to set out during busy holiday mornings for everyone to smear on some toast or bagels. It's a simple spread and will make your family think you really made something special for them.
