Please Your Summer Sweet Tooth with No-Bake Desserts

Malted Milk Pie

It’s not only heating up in the Test Kitchen with all the goodies we’ve been testing, it’s getting hotter outside too! Lately, I’m having to crank the AC and my oven mitt’s turned into a fan. The last thing I want to do is turn on my stove, but I still need to get my sweet fix. No-bake desserts are my go-to in the summer… no ovens required!

Milk balls are a family favorite in my house. After one look at Diane Schmidt’s Malted Milk Pie I knew it would become a keeper. Graham cracker crust, ice cream topped with a marshmallow whipped cream – how could you go wrong?

“My mom is now in charge of making this dessert in our family,” reveals Diane. “My kids beg their grandma to make ‘that ice cream thing’.” Next time I may use chocolate flavored malted milk powder as Diane suggests. The more malt powder in this one, the better.

Joelle Johnson says her Hawaiian Pie “kinda tastes like a pina colada in the form of a pie.” That description had Honorary Test Kitchen Member Leah Stacey at pina colada!

“I love anything that has those flavors and I was not disappointed in this yummy dessert,” reviewed Leah. She suggests serving it cold for a great dessert after eating BBQ which I think sounds divine. Made with ingredients you may have in your fridge and pantry, this is an easy dessert!

Talk about easy, it doesn’t get much easier than Michelle Jackson’s wonderful Tiramisu. “My husband loves this and it’s better than what you get at Italian restaurants,” shares Michelle.

It’s a simple, classic tiramisu that can’t be beat. The spongy ladyfingers soak up the flavors from the coffee. With a light, fluffy and flavorful mascarpone/whipped cream, it’s going to be hard to wait until it chills before you dig in. This dessert’s slightly decadent, and oh so good!

Betty Graves’ Banana Pudding Squares have the awesomeness of banana pudding and banana cream pie all wrapped up in a cute square package!

“You get the full flavors from all the ingredients,” explains Betty. “It’s a step up from other banana pudding recipes.” This banana pudding lover gives the recipe has two thumbs up and I think your family will too.

Fresh and fruity, Christi Capps’ American Angel Food Parfait is light as a feather and tastes like a dream… a good dream.

As Christi mentions, “This recipe calls for pre-made cake, so no cooking involved.” This would be a great to serve for Fourth of July or anytime you’re in the mood for an easy festive dessert!

“I always wanted to make a cake in a crock-pot, so now I do,” exclaims Cindy Dominguez. “The smell of this Crock-Pot Cake will drive you crazy!”

Super chocolaty, moist and easy?! Yes, please! A crock-pot can be a cook’s best friend in hot summer months. Top this off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and you’ve got one top-notch dessert.

So, put away those oven mitts and cool down with one of these sweet treats! Do you have a favorite no-bake dessert? Make sure to share your recipe… we’d love to see it.
