As part of my interest in History, I have begun to collect medieval and early English, German and Early American Colonial cookbooks. Is there anyone else in this group that likes to try out the really old recipes? I find it a challenge to make some of these without all the ingredients at the ready and some of the measuring (or not) is hard to figure out....love the heavy comfort foods though -- would people enjoy posting some of the more traditional early American recipes....please let me know - I will share if there is interest.
Hi, so what I am looking for is for someone to make my wedding cake, an individual or a bakery in my neighborhood; however I do not know how to address only the members from my neck of the woods. I did find how to locate them but not how to address them all.
One of my favorite hobbies is collecting vintage cookbooks. Whenever someone asks me what I would like for my birthday or whatever, I always tell them to find the most unique, old cookbook that they can find. They can always be found at very little cost.
Some of the very best recipes that I have are hand-written jems tucked within the pages of the books. I'm so thrilled to find others with the same love for preserving these incredible recipes!
