Losing Loved Ones to Suicide

Hosted by Lori Brown
Group active since Thu, Apr 21, 2011

I decided to start a discussion group for the loss of a love one to suicide, because 6 years ago my brother committed suicide. He didn't leave a note and we were left with this void of not knowing why?? So, if you are going through the loss of suicide please feel free to share with me and other group members. God Bless

Missing my family...

I feel like an orphan... my parents are gone... my 8 brothers are gone... 2 of them to suicide...

My mother had 8 boys then me and my sister... she had 10 kids by the age of 27!
I love them and miss them... I know I will see them again when we meet again, for now, I see them in my dreams.... xo

He is Gone

Dear Ladies,I saw this group as I was going through the different groups. I have not known the heartbreak of a love one's suicide but I have lost many family members,This is a poem I would like to share with you ,I hope you will find some comfort,God bless you.

He is Gone
You can shed tears that he is gone
Or you can smile because he has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

My brothers death

Over the last 6 years since my brother took his life our family is still mourning his loss. He was an excellent cook, he loved cajun food and man he sure could make a mean Etoufe!! One of my best memories I have is a couple of years before he died, he came to visit. He and I had so much fun cooking in my kitchen, and yes we made "Shrimp Etoufe"!! He didn't follow recipe's, much like I do. He just went with it, a palm here, a pinch there. I know he is with me in my kitchen.
