This summer I replaced 1 cup of blackberry juice with port wine and made blackberry-port jelly.
I also added 1/4 cup cocoa to my blackberry jelly another time and dubbed it Blackberry Forest. Yummy with the traditional peanut sandwich or spooned over ice-cream.

I picked the blackberries and Italian prunes at my Aunt's house in Seattle a few weeks ago, froze them and brought them on the plane with me. I picked the figs at my friend's house, and froze them. It has cooled off a bit, so I figured I would make jam for Christmas gifts today. I'm very happy with it all today.

This jam from the above blog was terrific. I increased the habanero to a whole one and added one more jalapeno with seeds since after it cooked a bit, it really didn't seem hot. It's still not very hot, but it's nicely balanced in flavors.
It was adapted from the original in Homegrown: Pure and Simple by Michel Nischan. Mine was closer to the adaptation by Local Kitchen. You should try it. It is so good.

This is one awesome recipe that I found on the internet. It is delish!!! I went to make a second batch and ran out of cranberries, so I added 1 cup more of orange, and 1 cup of fresh pineapple and 2 packs of pectin for it to gel.
Love both versions and probably it will remain my favorite jam since it is my first "cooked" jam. I have officially canned all by myself with success! Yeah....I just LOVE it!!!

In the meantime...had a craving for a different sort of snack today, so I simply topped Ritz crackers with whipped cream cheese & store bought (red) jalapeno pepper jelly.
