Plants that have been genetically engineered to contain pesticide have invaded our food. Since they were introduced into our food in the 90's food allergies have increased over 400%! This group is to discuss how to avoid genetically modified organisms (GMO's) by using Certified Organic ingredients and how to modify recipes to make sure they are free of GMO's.

Federal Lobbying for GMO Labeling

I read a recent article on lobbying efforts in Washington DC. It said that the big food corporations realized that they could not afford to mount the sort of multi-billion dollar campaign efforts they used in California to defeat Prop 37 all across the country so instead now they're using their war chests to lobby for their version of labeling. An example from Hershey's in England where labeling is required: "This candy may or may not contain genetically modified ingredients." Huh?? Isn't the whole point here to allow a choice if something does contain boatloads of GMO whatever??
What is your vision of good GMO labeling?

Proposition 37 in California's November 2012 elections

California has a grass roots campaign to require food manufacturers to label whether or not their product contains genetically modified ingredients. If you live in California, please visit the website and educate yourself on the dangers of genetically modified organisms (GMO's) and VOTE this November!
