Bread machines have come a long way! I can't believe the difference between the one I had way back in the '80's and the one I have now. Let's share our favorite recipes and uses, traditional and nontraditional, for our bread machines!

Hi Tess, found your bread group

I'm going to get my bread machine back out so that I can attempt to make some bread that tasted as yummy as yours did. I am going to browse through your recipes to see if you have them posted.

Tough crust.....

Hi everyone, I don't know what took me so long to join this group, but anyway, I was wondering if anyone had recipes for breads that have a softer crust? I always put my machine on light crust, but the crust always seems tough and pretty hard after a day or so. We love breads that also have fruits or nuts in them and are sweet. Although I would like a really good white bread just to eat with apple butter or jams. I'm sure there's plenty on here and I plan on sifting thru them when I have time, but just thought someone could get me jump started! Thank you all!

Great method for shaping dinner rolls!

wished I'd saved a pic of these but I will be making them again in a day or two and then I will post one. Here is the method:

Remove dough after running dough cycle and divide into two balls.

Take one ball, place it on a large, floured surface and press it into a 12 inch circle (I used a big wooden rolling pin).

Take two tbsp very soft butter and spread it over the circle. Cut the circle into eight wedges.

Roll each wedge with a little firmness starting from the wide end and finishing with the pointed end down. Place on a baking sheet (I always spray mine with oil).

Once you've finished with both circles, cover the rolls with a damp towel and let rise for 20 minutes.

Bake at 400 for 10-15 minutes. I use an egg wash on mine before baking.

FABULOUS! People will love them! My family inhaled them!

Bread machin-"isms" & resolutions with Breadman issues

i'd like to hear what quirks with bread machines people have been able to resolve.

I have the Breadman Ultimate.
My major issue has been getting the tops to brown. This is really bugging me !
If it weren't for this problem I would use my Breadman a whole lot more !

I had read that putting tin foil over the top window would help- well it did once, but after that I still got unfinished tops to my bread & would have to stick it iin the oven which kind of defeats the purpose.

Would love to hear from people who use the Breadman machine.

Gluten Free Bread Machine Recipes

As I said in the recipe notes, I have not personally tried this recipe as I don't need to eat gluten free. My friend swears by it though. You do have to bake it in the oven after the dough cycle.

Does anyone else have Gluten Free bread machine recipes to share?
