Strawberry shortcake is one of my favorite summertime desserts. Sweet strawberries, buttery cake, whipped cream… it’s light and delicious. These Blue Ribbon recipes take the classic flavor and put a twist on strawberry shortcake. <\/p>\n

“This Strawberry Shortcake Trifle<\/a> makes a great summer dessert,” thinks Michael Sarubbi<\/a> (Acworth, GA<\/a>). “I originally modified this dessert to include shortbread cake instead of angel food cake.”<\/p>\n

Trifles are a super easy dessert to prepare, and I love this summertime strawberry shortcake one. It’s almost too pretty to eat. <\/p>\n

Michael’s choice of store-bought shortcake dessert cups does give this dessert a more traditional flavor. Layering chunks of the cake with fresh strawberries and a creamy vanilla cream makes each bite delicious.<\/p>\n

Catherine Thompson Floyd’s<\/a> (Burlington, MI<\/a>) Strawberry Shortcake Red, White & Blue Bites<\/a> made my taste buds happy. A great dessert for the Fourth of July.<\/p>\n

“Just a bite of deliciousness,” says Catherine. “Strawberry, cake, whipped cream, and a blueberry topping to pop into your mouth and enjoy!”<\/p>\n

Bits of chopped strawberries and shortcake cups are mixed and stuffed inside a hollowed-out strawberry. Topping with whipped cream makes these a two-bite treat. Kids can help make these if you’re looking for a family-friendly recipe.<\/p>\n

“Strawberry shortcake is my fave, and it’s a good treat to start the summer with,” Sabrina Nichols<\/a> reveals. Her Strawberry Cheese Shortcake<\/a> is a yummy treat.<\/p>\n

She prepares a box of strawberry cream and cheesecake Jell-O and then layers them with vanilla wafer cookies and fresh strawberries. Once set, that mixture gets spooned over toasted pound cake that’s been drizzled with strawberry sauce. It’s delicious!<\/p>\n

This would be a great dessert if serving a large crowd. Just slice up the pound cake, set out the strawberry sauce and pudding, then everyone can build their own.<\/p>\n

To elevate the dessert, try Barbara Mayo’s<\/a> (Collierville, TN<\/a>) Strawberry Martini Shortcake<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“A light and a yummy new twist on strawberry shortcake,” writes Barbara. “Very yummy for the end of a nice dinner for two or dinner party for 6.”<\/p>\n

Barbara’s twists include soaking chopped strawberries in balsamic vinegar and fresh orange zest. They’re served in a martini glass with creamy cheesecake pudding and crumbled lemon biscotti. The final result is a tasty and impressive dessert.<\/p>\n

If none of these twists on strawberry shortcake are what you’re looking for, Sherry Wilkins<\/a> (Cabot, AR<\/a>) shared her Favorite Strawberry Shortcake<\/a> recipe that’s more traditional.<\/p>\n

“For several years, I looked for one strawberry shortcake recipe that would suit me,” explains Sherry. “I finally gave up and modified several different recipes into one.”<\/p>\n

What Sherry settled on showcases the lightly sweet cake and fresh berries perfectly. <\/p>\n

On top of her flaky homemade sweet biscuit are macerated strawberries coated in a strawberry glaze with a hint of lemon. A big dollop of whipped cream makes these irresistible.<\/p>\n
