This summer has been a scorcher. In my part of the country, it went from winter to summer… Mother Nature decided we’d skip spring. What’s one way to beat the heat? Enjoying a frozen cocktail on the patio. Here are a few drinks I’ve been enjoying this summer.<\/p>\n

Grace Pulley<\/a> (Gillette, WY<\/a>) created a Pomegranate Margarita<\/a> that quickly became a Friday evening treat. “Love pomegranates and just purchased a case through my local co-op last week and used some for juicing,” explains Grace. “The juice was great for one of my favorite drinks.”<\/p>\n

Pomegranates are slightly tart and sweet at the same time. It pairs deliciously with triple sec, tequila, and a bit of lime juice. If you don’t have access to fresh pomegranates, pick up a bottle of juice at the market. The frozen cocktail will still be delightful.<\/p>\n

“This is a delicious summertime treat that’s so easy to make, especially with seedless watermelon,” thinks Donna Graffagnino<\/a> of her Frozen Watermelon Margarita<\/a>. “I use triple sec but any orange-flavored liqueur can be used to suit your taste.”<\/p>\n

This cocktail screams summertime! Freezing the watermelon means you don’t have to add much ice to this refreshing drink. It’s sweet and full of watermelon flavor with a slight tang from the lime. Perfect for sipping poolside.<\/p>\n

Strawberries are bursting with flavor right now. The perfect use for them is in Mary Lee’s<\/a> Strawberry Kiwi Schnapps Smoothie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“This is a delightful summer drink, great for parties,” shares Mary Lee. “You can triple or quadruple the recipe.” Mary Lee’s cocktail is great if you’re having guests over for a cocktail.<\/p>\n

This adult smoothie’s light and full of strawberry flavor thanks to the fresh strawberries. What I love is this is a drink with alcohol, but the taste isn’t harsh. If you like a fruity frozen beverage, try this recipe this summer. <\/p>\n

A pina colada is scrumptious when the weather’s warm, so I adore Kay Skipper’s<\/a> (Brandon, MS<\/a>) Peg’s Pina Colada Punch<\/a>. “I had this delicious punch at a baby shower hosted by Peg and must say… I indulged in this punch,” says Kay. “It has to be one of the best punches I have ever had.”<\/p>\n

Sweet and creamy, this frozen treat hits the spot. It’s almost like a dessert in a glass. One sip and I’m not sitting on my porch anymore. I’m transported to a deserted island. So yummy!<\/p>\n

In the Test Kitchen, we created a recipe for a Frozen Blue Whale<\/a> that’s become really popular. In fact, when we were shooting the video on how to make a Frozen Blue Whale<\/a> the leftovers mysteriously disappeared (quickly!). <\/p>\n

Filled with citrus flavor, it’s cool, frosty and oh-so-delicious. Watch out when drinking, though, because this will sneak up on you.<\/p>\n
