Pat at Everyday Savvy&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/everydaysavvy.com\/patriotic-snacks-american-flag-pretzels\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American Flag Pretzels<\/a> caught our eye. Made with simple ingredients we thought the pretzels could be a fun snack (and decor) at Memorial Day, Fourth of July or Labor Day cookouts. So, we gathered the ingredients and got into the Test Kitchen. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3>What You&#8217;ll Need<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>1 bag white candy melts (like Wilton), 12 oz<\/li>\n<li>1 bag blue candy melts, 12 oz<\/li>\n<li>1 bag red candy melts, 12 oz<\/li>\n<li>Pretzel rods<\/li>\n<li>Star sprinkles with white stars removed<\/li>\n<li>Parchment paper<\/li>\n<li>1 resealable plastic bag<\/li>\n<li>3 small microwave-safe bowls<\/li>\n<li>3 spoons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How To Make American Flag Pretzels<\/h3>\n<p>1. Pour the candy melts into individual bowls. You&#8217;ll need 2 cups of white candy melts, 1 cup of blue and 1 cup of red. Separate the white stars from the other colors and place in a bowl. Gather pretzel rods.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>2. Melt the candy melts. Place bowls in the microwave. At 40% power, melt for 1 minute. Stir. Melt in 30-second intervals until completely smooth. Stir after every 30 seconds.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>3. Place pretzel rods on a piece of parchment paper.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>4. Spoon white candy melts onto the pretzel rod. Cover the entire rod except for a small area so the pretzel can be held. Set aside to let the white candy harden.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>5. Then, dip the pretzel rod into the blue candy melt leaving about half the white candy showing.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>6. Before the blue candy hardens, place the white stars onto the candy. Place rods back on the parchment paper. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>7. Put the red melted candy melts into a resealable bag. Cut a small piece off the tip of the bag.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>8. Drizzle the red candy across the white half of the pretzel.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>9. Let the candy completely harden before serving.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3>The Results: A Pinterest Pass<\/h3>\n<p>Not only are these pretzel sticks super cute and patriotic, they are also tasty with a fantastic salty-sweet flavor combination. They&#8217;re easy to eat too. For presentation, place them in a mason jar and let people grab a pretzel. They&#8217;ll be a fun snack for your summertime celebrations.<\/p>\n<h3>Test Kitchen Tips<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>To help the candy harden faster, place the parchment paper on a cookie sheet and lay the pretzels on it. Pop the cookie sheet in the refrigerator between changing colors.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a real piping bag with tips, use it. You&#8217;ll get more uniform and neater stripes.<\/li>\n<li>When we tried to separate the pretzels after the red stripes hardened, we found they started to break a bit.
