Ingredients For sauerkraut kielbasa soup

  • 2 slice
    bacon or turkey bacon, diced
  • 1 c
    onion or red onion,chopped
  • 1 tsp
    garlic,minced
  • 1 lb
    can sauerkraut,drained
  • 1/2 tsp
    paprika
  • 6 c
    hot water
  • 6
    cubes chicken cubes
  • 2 c
    carrots, slices
  • 3 c
    potatoes or red potatoes, cubes
  • 1/2 tsp
    caraway seeds
  • 1/8 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 lb
    kielbasa
  • snipped parsely or dried
  • 6 can
    chicken broth (if you dont want use hot water)

How To Make sauerkraut kielbasa soup

  • 1
    Fry bacon in large Kettle or Dutch oven medium in heat until browned. Sauté onion and garlic in same Kettle or Dutch oven for 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Stir sauerkraut, paprika, water or broth, bouillon cubes, carrots, potatoes, caraway seeds and pepper.

    Bring to boiling, reduce heat and simmer, cover 30 minutes. Add Kielbasa simmer, cover 30 minutes.

    Remove the Kielbasa cool slightly. Cut Kielbasa, in half then into 1/2 inch slices. Return the soup, heat through. Garnish with parsley.

    I would put more potatoes in the soup if you have big eater.
