I've been on the lookout for a 'traditional' oyster stew recipe to make for Christmas Eve. I think this is it!

Prep time is next to nothing if you buy your oysters already shucked!

Stove Top

Ingredients

1 pt
oysters, with liquid
8 Tbsp
unsalted butter (1 stick)
1/2 c
shallots, minced
1 c
light cream
3 c
whole milk
1/2 tsp
salt
to taste
cayenne pepper
additional
butter for serving

Directions Step-By-Step

Saute shallots in butter.

Add milk and cream, and simmer until almost boiling.

Season with salt and pepper.

Add oysters and liquid. Simmer until edges curl.

Serve in individual bowls with a pat of butter on top.
