This dish is a thick, hearty dish. My families favorite dish on snow days. Great for winter potluck or fund raisers as well. Can also be done in a slow cooker so your dinner will be ready when you are.

Ingredients For creamy potato chowder

  • 4-10 lg
    potatoes, russets
  • 16 oz
    desired meat, optional (chicken, turkey, ham) cubed
  • 1/2 gal
    milk, low-fat
  • 1 stick
    butter, cold
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp
    onion powder
  • 1 sprig
    thyme
  • 5 clove
    garlic, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp
    garlic powder
  • 1-3 sprig
    bay leaves
  • 1 sm
    bag frozen corn
  • 1 sm
    bag frozen carrots
  • salt & pepper to taste

How To Make creamy potato chowder

  • 1
    peel an cut desired amount of potatoes
  • 2
    in a large pot, heat milk on medium heat
  • 3
    cube desired meat. you can skip this step if you do not want any meat in it.

    add butter and all spices, stir til butter is melted
  • 5
    add potatoes and meat, let cook on low heat, covered for 30 mins. stirring occasionally so as not to burn milk
  • 6
    add veggies, stir and let simmer another 30 mins covered, or until all ingredients are tender enough to cut with a spoon. stir every so often.

    optional toppings or garnish: shredded cheese, celery stalk, salad topper, crunchy chow mein noodles, or any other topping you might like.
