This is a soup women use to make on the day they were baking bread.

Ingredients

2 lb
beef or mutton, trimmed, cut into small pieces

onions, sliced

carrots, chunked
4
parsnips, quartered

potatoes, cut up
6
tomatoes, peeled, quartered
salt and pepper
1 large
beet, scraped, cut up (opt)
3 qt
water

Step-By-Step

1Add ingredients into an earthen vessel and set in the oven while the bread is baking.
2If the bread is done before the dinner hour, keep the soup in the oven till ready to serve.
