Even though I live in Maine, I love chowders. I just tried this Rhode Island seafood chowder and I'm still smacking my lips from last night.

Ingredients For narragansett bay seafood chowder

  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 c
    water, fish stock or 1 cup clam juice and 1 cup of water
  • 2 c
    diced potatoes
  • 1 c
    lobster meat or shelled shrimp
  • 6 oz
    bay scallops or cut-up sea scallops
  • 1/2 lb
    haddock, cod or flounder fillets
  • 2 c
    light cream or half-and-half
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • chopped fresh parsley to garnish
  • sprinkling of paprika

How To Make narragansett bay seafood chowder

  • 1
    Saute onion until tender in butter. Add liquid and potatoes and simmer 10-12 minutes.

    Cut rest of seafood into chunks (except bay scallops, if using) and add. Heat for 2 minutes and stir in cream, salt and pepper. Heat.

    To serve, sprinkle with parsley and paprika.
