This is an old recipe from my grandfather who was a deep water diver. I have never made this because I am allergic to fish... but it sounds so good....

Ingredients For haddock chowder

  • 3 lb
    haddock (bones removed)
  • 9 c
    milk
  • 3 lg
    onions
  • 5 lg
    carrots (cut into thin coins)
  • 5 lg
    potatoes (cubed)
  • 4 stick
    celery (chopped up)
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    ground pepper
  • 1 tsp
    mace
  • 1/2 tsp
    sage
  • butter (the size of 3 eggs)

How To Make haddock chowder

  • 1
    Saute the carrots, celery, onion and potatoes in butter the size of an egg in a large skillet. When all are done and tender, put them in a large pot.

    Fry the haddock in butter (about the size of an egg) until lightly golden and cooked through. Add this to the pot.

    Add all remaining ingredients to the large pot. Simmer for 10 minutes to blend flavors. Serve hot.
