val's creamy crab soup

We were wanting something different and that would warm us up on a cold day. We both love crab meat so I came up with this easy soup recipie, and it came out better than I though it would, so now I am going to share it with all of you.

Ingredients For val's creamy crab soup

  • 1 qt
    half and half
  • 1 qt
    milk (your choice of %) whole works better
  • 1 to 1.5 lb
    lump crab meat (sea leg works also)
  • 1/2 stick
    real butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    old bay seasoning
  • 1 & 1/2 Tbsp
    lemon pepper
  • salt to tast or can omit
  • 1 med
    diced onion

How To Make val's creamy crab soup

  • 1
    saute diced onion then stir in crab meat, if using sea leg put into food processor until meat is finely chopped
  • 2
    in a large soup pot mix the milk, half and half, and butter bring to a slow simmer so not to burn the milk, add butter stir until butter is melted, add in the seasonings and stir

    add in the onions and crab meat stir turn down the heat and simmer on low for about an hour

    put in bowls and serve, we like ours with oyster crackers and enjoy

    if you prefer a chowder style soup just add 1 can of diced potatos
