My father use to love hot dogs and soup. So one day I was making my poor mans soup and put in some cut up hot dogs. Well it turned out to be one of his favorite chowders.

Ingredients For hot dog chowder

  • 2 c
    raw potatoes, diced
  • 10 oz
    frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1/2 c
    diced onion
  • 1 Tbsp
    chopped parsely
  • 2
    low salt cubes of chicken bullion or soup base
  • 5 - 6
    hot dogs, sliced into 1/4" rings
  • 1/4 c
    flour
  • 2 c
    milk, 2%
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c
    chopped broccoli (opt.)

How To Make hot dog chowder

    Place vegetable in a large sauce pan and put 1 1/2 cups water over them and add soup base and bring to a boil. Cook 5 minutes, add hot dog rings and continue to cook for 15 minutes more.

    In a small sauce pan, melt butter and then add flour, stirring to cook flour, then add the milk stirring constantly. Now add to the vegetables and stir until mixed completely. Cook until vegetables are tender. If the chowder gets to thick then add some more milk.
