Found this in my dutch oven cook book. And of corse.I had to make some changes. Just to please myself.Just love the way it turned out.

Ingredients For bob's cheese chowder...

  • 4 c
    diced potatos
  • 1 c
    diced carrots
  • 1 c
    diced celery
  • 3/4 c
    diced onions
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt and pepper
  • 1/4 lb
    smoked bacon
  • 2 c
    vegetable broth
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/2 c
    flour
  • 4 c
    milk
  • 3 c
    shredded chedder cheese
  • 3 c
    shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 can
    corn.
  • 1/2 c
    sliced mushrooms

How To Make bob's cheese chowder...

    I used a 4 qt cast iron dutch oven for this.cut bacon into 1/2 inch peices.Fry bacon in dutch oven for 4-5 min..Add potatoes,carrots,cellery,onions,a 1/2 cup of sliced mushrooms,salt,pepper,and vegetable stock or broth.cover and cook for 20 to 25 minutes.

    In a bowl mix milk and flour until smooth...Add to vegetables and butter..Cook stirring until thickend..Now add cheese and stir until melted..Add corn and simmer for 20 to 25 minute.. serve with texas toast...
