Frozen lemons

I saw the enclosed hint in an e-mail from a friend and decided to give it a try and see for myself if it worked. I am happy to say it did work and I have been enjoying the "frozen lemon."

Ingredients

lemons--any amount

Directions Step-By-Step

Simple..place a washed lemon in the freezer section of your refrigerator. I placed it in a small zip lock baggie.

Once the lemon is frozen, get your grated, and shred the lemon (no need to peel it) and sprinkle it on top of your foods.

Sprinkle it on your vegetable salad, soup, noodles, rice, fish and chicken dishes, vegetables, and instant cup of noodles.

Put remaining lemon back into freezer to use another day.

LOL, not a baseball fan here. And would be an A's fan if I was. But I agree, it would be great if the Giant's pull it off.

We use to live in Scotts Valley just outside of Santa Cruz. Moved to OR 41 years ago. Hoping SF comes back and gets into the series!

Thanks Dorothy. Good ideas! We have a similiar squirrel problem here in the East Bay hills of the San Francisco Bay Area. Drives me nuts!

Elizabeth, the lemon I froze is really hard so it would be hard to slice but you might try freezing some slices and then bagging them up. It never hurts to try anyway. I also have done preserved lemons in salt and lemon juice and I love the flavor of those in vegetables, etc. We have a Meyer lemon tree in a large pot and have had it for about 2 years now. It is a chore here in Oregon having to wheel it into the garage when it gets really cold but we enjoy our little home grown lemons even though we don't get to many---the squirrels seem to think they are big green nuts just for them to pick and hide.

Wonder how this would work if you sliced the frozen lemon? And how would the lemons be if fully defrosted? Must investigate! I have two different lemon trees and this is such a great idea for making the most of them. Thanks so much for Sharing!
