This is a great and hearty stew for those cold wintry days. A pint of Guinness on the side with some crusty bread is a perfect cozy supper meal.

Ingredients For guinness irish pub stew

  • 2 lb
    lean stewing meat
  • 3 Tbsp
    vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 2 lg
    onions, chopped
  • 1-2 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp
    tomato paste dissolved in 2 tblsp. water
  • 1 bottle
    guinness stout
  • 2 c
    chopped carrots
  • 1 sprig
    thyme, leaves

How To Make guinness irish pub stew

    In a large bowl, toss your stew meat with 1 Tblsp. oil. Coat well. Set aside.

    In a small bowl season the flour with salt, pepper, and cayenne. Sprinkle over the meat and toss well to coat evenly.

    Heat remaining oil in a large skillet. Add meat and Heat remaining oil; brown meat on all sides. Add onions, garlic, and tomato puree. Cover and cook 5 minutes. Remove meat to a medium stock pot.

    Pour a small amount of Guinness to your pan and Slowly add a small amount of stout to the pan and dissolve caramelized juices. Pour this over the meat and add the rest of the stout. Bring to a boil and add carrots & thyme. Cover and simmer 2-3 hours.
